Lake GardaTrentino part

Monte Brione  Riva del Garda

The starting point of the tour is the S.Nicolò port in Riva del Garda; near the port stands a former military post, the Fort St. Nicholas, built by the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1861 and expanded in 1911 is now home to the diving club. Behind the fort passes a cycle-pedestrian track that connects Riva del Garda to Torbole; past the track and up the stairs of the walls you get to the sign indicating the beginning of the path of peace. The path is unpaved and there are steps along the way; the path is also equipped with benches and almost entirely protected by a metal cord. There are several panoramic points where you can stop and admire the splendid view of Lake Garda. As you go up the path along the side of the mountain and through fields of olive trees typical of the area and in about 30 minutes walk you reach the Forte Garda. The Fort was built between 1904 and 1907 and could accommodate up to 200 soldiers; it was an important military defense post during the Great War. From here continuing to climb you reach the battery of half austroungarigo outpost built in the early 1900s. The path ends at the top of the mountain brione and you can return to Riva del Garda along the same path or from the asphalt road
